Open Studio · 13 September 2024 · 4:30–6:30pm
Kyara Arthouse · 234 Trần Nhân Tông, Cẩm Thanh, Hội An
As part of the French Institute of Vietnam's Villa Saigon Hors-les-Murs programme, visual artist Isabelle Le Minh was hosted at Kyara Arthouse for an artist residency. As she came to the end of her time in central Viet Nam, she presented the work and research she had carried out in Hoi An over two months.
Drawing on her knowledge of primitive photographic processes, Isabelle studied the light sensitivity of plants in her immediate environment and of vegetal dyes, trying to devise a non-polluting pigment printing process within wider artistic investigations.
Programme:
- 4:30–5:00pm — Welcoming guests
- 5:00–5:30pm — Isabelle presents her work
- 5:30–6:30pm — Q&A with drinks and snacks
About Isabelle Le Minh
A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles, Isabelle Le Minh is a visual artist based in Nogent-sur-Marne who teaches photography at the Haute école des arts du Rhin in Strasbourg. Her work can be found in major public collections including those of the Centre Pompidou – Musée National d'Art Moderne, the Centre National des Arts Plastiques, and the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
Through her versatile practice, the artist follows multiple exploratory paths to seek the essence and push the limits of photography—evoking its history, techniques, and theories, as well as the notion of originality in a world dominated by images.
